Christmas Breakfast Ideas

Christmas Breakfast IdeasChristmas mornings are magical. I have so many happy memories of waking up really early on Christmas morning, and sitting next to the festive tree, opening presents with my siblings while my sleepy parents watched us with smiles on their faces. Now that I’m an adult and have a baby of my own, I want to just soak in all those warm, gushy feelings and bottle them up inside, so I can look back on them forever.

I’m a huge advocate of starting out each day with a filling breakfast. Of course, I want to make the morning meal extra special on Christmas morning. However, I DON’T want to wake up earlier or spend my time in the kitchen while everyone else is having all the Christmas fun. Here are my suggestions for a festive breakfast. I have lots of Christmas breakfast ideas for you, so that you can make all these things in advance and have minimal work on Christmas day. Make Christmas breakfast part of the memories that your family members will cherish forever.

1. Sparkling Citrus Pineapple Punch

To make breakfast extra special, you can start out by offering this cheery and fizzy orange drink. Orange and pineapple are classic morning juices that are given a special touch with the mint and sparkling water.

2. Breakfast Casserole With Spinach, Ham and Cheese

Everyone will LOVE and rave about this casserole. It’s filling, it’s hearty and it’s so tender and fluffy. Most importantly, it’s so delicious. Ham, cheese, eggs and spinach – what’s not to like? Prep the entire thing the night before and while you’re opening presents, getting ready for church or other Christmas adventures, you just have to put this casserole in the oven and that’s it.

3. Freezer-Friendly Breakfast Burritos

Since these burritos are freezer friendly, you can make them weeks or even months in advance. Of course, there’s no time for that now, but you still have time to do the “in advance” part. Fill them with your favorite toppings – I like ham, cheese, peppers and tomatoes and of course, eggs and all you have to do in the morning is heat them up.

4. Breakfast Strudels

These are also freezer friendly and they will WOW all your family members are guests. They qualify for a special occasion because they are so luxurious and exhilaratingly delicious. The filling is so tender, creamy and velvety and it’s all encased in a crisp and golden pastry. Do all the prep work ahead of time and simply bake on Christmas morning.

5. Cheddar Biscuits

Warm, flaky biscuits are a perfect treat for breakfast. Serve them with butter, assortments of cheese, deli meats or jam and everyone at the table will sing your praises. You can bake the biscuits in advance, and then serve them at room temperature, or reheat them in the microwave or in the oven for 5-10 minutes.

6. Russian Tea Sandwiches

These sandwiches are great with either tea or coffee. You can arrange all your deli meats, cheeses and bread on plates and have everyone serve themselves, or assemble the sandwiches for them. They are satisfying and filling – just the thing to make everyone’s stomachs happy until the main meal later in the day.

7. Blueberry, Cream Cheese and and Almond French Toast Casserole

Just by reading the title you should be able to tell how delicious casserole is. Just like most of the ideas I’m sharing here, you assemble it the night before and just pop it in the oven in the morning. So many awesome breakfast favorites rolled into one incredible sweet treat.

8. Cranberry Orange Muffins

Bake these tender and flavorful muffins a few days early and they are ready to be enjoyed on Christmas morning. You can even heat them up in the microwave or in the oven for 5-10 minutes. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, you can serve them with creamy plain, or flavored butter.

9. Orange Scones

What is more iconic than scones for breakfast? Of course, these can be made in advance and heated up just like everything else I’ve been suggesting. I guarantee everyone at your table will love them. You can make Blueberry Scones instead and they are just as delicious.

I would love to hear about your Christmas morning memories. What does your family do in the mornings? Do you have a special breakfast that you enjoy?
