The puff pastry dough bakes up intoย hundreds of thin layers that are crunchy and feel as light as air, even though we know how much butter is in it:)!ย It takes about 15 minutes to bake - what a plus for summer baking, the less fuss, the better.
With a smooth a lusious cream cheese filling, and topped with sweet, juicy fruit, this is the ultimate dish for your next summer gathering, whether in your dining room or at a backyard barbecue, sandy beach picnic or a blanket at the park. I think the crowning glory of this dessert is the citrus glaze. It brightens and heightens all the flavors. Citrus makes everything better.
One of my cousins shared this recipe with my Mom and we've made it for many occassions. It takes almost no time at all to assemble, so you'll have more time for more important things, like swimming. You can even do most of the prep work ahead of time and take a few minutes to put the finishing touches on it at the last minute. You can bake the pastries and store them until you're ready to use them, make the filling and the glaze and refrigerate them also.
Yields: about 16 pastries
Ingredients:
1 large sheet of puff pastry ย (I buy a big box from a restaurant supply store, where they are sold in large sheets, about 9 ยฝ inches x 14 ยฝ inches)
Filling:
1 (8 0z) package of cream cheese, softened
โ cup sugar
ยผ cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
Fruit:
1 lb strawberries, hulled and sliced
3 kiwi, peeled and sliced
ยฝ pint blueberries
Glaze:
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
ยผ cup sugar
ยฝ cup water
ยฝ cup orange juice (about 2 oranges)
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Unthaw the puff pastry. Cut into approximately 2 inch x 3 inch rectangles.

To assemble the pastries, use a butter knife to help you separate each pastry in half horizontally.ย Pipe the filling in the middle of each pastry.

Where can I print a recipe for this?
can i bake the puff pastry night before and fill them next day?
Yes, you can bake the pastries in advance. As long as you fill them the next day, the quality should still be just as great.
Love this recipe! I have leftover glaze. Would you happen to know its shelf life? how long it can last in the fridge?
I really don't know, Tanya. I've never had it for more than a day or two, since I usually make it for big groups of people.
Where did you get the large box of pastry sheets?
I bought it at a restaurant supply store that we have here in our area.
Can you give me the name of that store, maybe we have one here locally also?
It's called GFS, Gordon's Food Store. I hope you have one nearby. However, if you don't have that particular store, search for other restaurant supply stores of stores where you can buy things in bulk.
Oh these were big hit past sunday at my local church! Everyone loved them! Thank you again for receipe!
You're welcome, Nataliya! I'm glad you liked them.
These are so cute. I was looking for good glaze recipe. Thanks Olgaโฟโฟโฟ
looks so good thanks olichka
How much is in the package? is it 1 lb or more?
As I already wrote in the recipe, I buy puff pastry in bulk, in a huge box with like 30 sheets of puff pastry. I never measured how much each sheet weighs. Each sheet is approximately 14 inches x 9 inches.
