Tropical Smoothie
If you’re craving dessert or ice cream, smoothies are the way to go. Healthy, creamy, delicious, cold and absolutely satisfying, I wonder why I don’t make them everyday.

It certainly takes much less work than baking a cake or cookies. Since I am a Floridian now, I told myself that I had to master smoothies and it was one of the first things I taught myself how to make back in 2006 as a newlywed. I’ve been making this combination for years and it’s my absolute favorite.

Peaches, oranges, mango and yogurt – I don’t think there’s another smoothie that could possibly taste better:). Although, of course, you can use many other types of fruit, in accordance to your taste buds. Strawberry banana is also high on my list of favorites.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup orange juice

1 cup yogurt, plain greek

2 cups chopped mango

2 cups frozen chopped peaches

1 banana

honey, to taste

Instructions:

IMG_2924 (500x334)Add the orange juice and the yogurt to the blender first. Add the mangoes, peaches and banana.

You can use fresh peaches or frozen mango. The fruit can all be frozen, but if you’re using all frozen fruit, thaw it out a bit first. Don’t use all fresh fruit, unless you want to add a bit of ice to the smoothie. Using frozen fruit gives the smoothie a creamy, luscious texture, thickens it and keeps it much colder than if you would use fresh fruit only. When mangos are in season, I like to buy a bunch of them, and freeze them to use in smoothies later.

Add as much honey as you like. If your fruit is really sweet you may not need to add any honey at all. IMG_2927 (500x334)Start blending your smoothie on a slower speed and then gradually increase the speed until the smoothie is processed and completely smooth. IMG_2929 (500x334)
